Faringdon Community College is fully committed to safeguarding

At Faringdon Community College we are committed to inspiring, challenging and safeguarding our students and enabling them to become:

We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent, effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school.

The staff and governors of the school are committed to establishing and maintaining an environment where children feel secure, are encouraged to talk and are listened to, knowing there are adults in the school whom they can approach if they are worried or have concerns.

We wish to promote a positive, supportive and secure environment, giving students a sense of being valued.

We recognise our responsibility to discuss with Oxfordshire Children’s Social Care and/or Oxfordshire Schools Safeguarding Team any significant concerns about a child which may indicate physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse or neglect in accordance with the Local Safeguarding Children Board child protection procedures and to attend any child protection conferences, initial and review, and core group meetings and child in need conferences that may be called. Faringdon Community College Staff will work with the Early Intervention Hubs to establish a ‘Team Around the Child’ when appropriate and use the CAF (Common Assessment Form) to access a Multi-Agency Team when necessary.

Faringdon Community College recognises its duty to work with other agencies, such as: the Police Child Abuse Investigation Unit, The Kingfisher Team, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and Educational Psychology Service in protecting children from harm and in responding to concerns about possible abuse.
