Duke of Edinburgh Award

Faringdon Community College offers students the exciting opportunity to undertake the Bronze Award in Year 9, Silver Award in Year 10 and the Gold Award in the Sixth Form.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) aims to provide an enjoyable, non-competitive, challenging and individually designed programme of personal development. A DofE Programme consists of activities across three different sections (Physical, Skills and Volunteering) which can be chosen by the individual based on their current interests or if they have a desire to try something new. The final section is the Expedition section which is undertaken in small groups where one of the aims is to be as self-sufficient as far as possible. Expedition areas include, but aren’t limited to, West Berkshire, the Brecon Beacons and the Lake District. The Award is designed to challenge participants based on where they are already and due to its diversity, offers a truly rewarding experience in a variety of ways.

Below is advice and guidance for completing the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

You can find useful information on the DofE website or on the edofe portal.

The bronze and silver expeditions are run by BXM Expeditions. More information about preparing for expeditions can be found on their website.
