Free School Meals

Free school meals are available to pupils in receipt of, or whose parents are in receipt of, one or more of the following benefits:

  • Universal Credit – with varying earning thresholds depending on your FSM tier.  From September 2026, the programme offers two tiers: "Targeted FSM" (Pupils in households with an earned income of under £7.400 per year) and "Expanded FSM" (for all other pupils in households receiving Universal Credit).
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income under £16,190)

How to apply

Please complete and return the form below together with proof of benefit so that we can assess your eligibility. Please email to request a hardcopy of the FSM registration form.

When to apply

You should apply to school when you first start to receive benefits as claims are not backdated. Your eligibility will be reviewed at least every six months.

You should notify the school immediately if any changes occur to your benefit.
