Theme of the week is: Types of relationships
At Faringdon Community College, we aspire to give students the opportunity to embrace their art skills. We cover a range of skills to inspire students to find their true artistic qualities. We cover a range of areas such as pencil shading, shading with paint, clay work, pen drawing and other mediums. Students also have the opportunity to engage in community project work and work with visiting artists in residence.
During KS4, we extend subjects learned at KS3 such as drawing, painting, print making, batik and ICT manipulation. Incorporated into these activities is Critical Studies which is designed to develop a broader understanding and appreciation of both western and non-western artists, craftspeople and cultures, enabling students to integrate this knowledge into their own work.
Art is offered as an option subject. At GCSE level, students will complete two mini portfolio pages on experimental studies and portraits. The third project (covering all of the assessment objectives) is based on the theme of ‘Close ups’. The course consists of 60% coursework and 40% exam over two years. Art also available at A Level.
