Science Technician

15 hours per week over 2.5 days (Wed-Fri) term time only

NJC Grade 4 or 5 (£5,236- £5,925) dependant on experience

Faringdon Community College a looking for an enthusiastic Science Technician to support our Science teaching and learning. They will work alongside other technicians, teachers and teaching assistants in in our dedicated Science block which has nine labs and three Prep Rooms.

There are twelve teachers in the Department and Science is taught to all students in Years 7 to 11.  In addition, there are A level classes in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and a Level 3 BTEC Health & Social Care group.

The work involves getting materials and equipment ready for lessons, (ranging from photocopying, making-up solutions to counting out books to buying cabbages!). This busy position also involves moving resources between rooms, preparing apparatus, cleaning and sorting equipment after lessons.

Although experience in laboratory work, and computing skills would be useful, they are not essential as training will be given. It is more important that the person appointed is able to work well as part of our team, organise their time appropriately and have a sense of humour.  In addition, an ability to work flexibly, independently and seek out resources, as well as working closely with teaching and non-teaching staff is essential.
