PE

Aims of the Department:

Engage students in sports and exercise, so that they leave FCC healthy, with a passion for at least one sport and the knowledge of how to maintain their health and fitness.  The department aims to include all students, regardless of ability and level, as well as provide the opportunities for the more able to excel in their chosen sport.

As qualifications we offer core P.E to all year groups, Level/1/2 Technical Award in Sports Studies, AQA GCSE P.E and AQA A level in Physical Education.

 

We are fortunate to have outstanding sports facilities which include:

  • 6 badminton court Sports Hall
  • Dedicated Gym
  • 6 Tennis Courts
  • Extensive grounds
  • Access to Faringdon Leisure Centre which is located next to the school
  • An Astroturf pitch is scheduled for completion by the end of 2018

 

Our Extra-curricular activities include:

  • Lunchtimes and after school in a range of sports including rugby, football, netball, badminton, athletics
  • Regular fixtures at local and regional level
  • Regular trips and activities
  • Year 7/8 netball residential
  • Wall Climbing course

 

KS3 Core PE:

Students follow the national curriculum for Physical Education including games,(football,rugby,basketball, badminton, tennis, cricket,softball,rounders), athletics and trampolining.   One lesson in 4 is focussed on health and fitness activities.

 

KS4 Core PE:

All students at KS4 participate in PE with the aim of promoting a health, fitness and providing physical activity. Students are able to develop skills and enjoyment in each sport which also builds team work and life skills.

 

Level 1 or 2  VCert in Sports Studies:

Combines theory and practical, as well as elements on leadership, sports injuries, designing a sports competition and health.
