With the use of the recording studio combined with a dedicated music room tech room, the music department is very excited to be able to offer every student, the fantastic opportunity to take the skills they have developed in Key Stage 3, to the next level and beyond by studying a new qualification to the school VCERTs in music technology
This qualification is designed for learners wishing to gain an understanding of the music industry and develop the basic skills across a range of areas within the subject. The Level 2 qualification aims to introduce learners to the subject who may wish to continue their studies at Level 3. While no formal musical experience or qualifications are required, an appreciation of the subject area is desirable. This qualification features on the DfE list of approved qualifications for Key Stage 4 performance tables.
This unit covers the basic issues and skills associated with setting up a simple computer-based digital audio workstation; and operating music sequencing software to work with audio and MIDI tracks.
Learners will develop the basic skills associated with using audio/MIDI software, working with audio
and MIDI tracks, using mixing techniques and adding effects to produce a piece of music.
Learners will cover the basic layout of a mixing desk and develop the skills required to make a multi-track recording, set recording levels, and work with EQ.
