Government and Politics

Whether we realise it or not, Government and Politics is central to our everyday lives. Politics dominates domestic and foreign news and political decisions help to determine how we are educated, housed, cared for in hospital and kept secure from crime and violence. The study of Politics is greatly valued by universities and can also led to a wide range of careers.

We follow the Edexcel specification. Students sitting their AS Level Government and Politics in 2017 will be able to continue to A2 and sit those exams in 2018. Students starting at FCC 6th Form from September 2017 will be following the new Edexcel Politics AS or ALevel specifications.

Students taking this subject will participate in trips to the Houses of Parliament and the Supreme Court. Talks by guest speakers representing all major political parties are also organised to support knowledge and understanding.

This subject combines well with English, Sociology, Psychology, Geography, History, Philosophy and Ethics and Economics.

You will need to have achieved at least B grades in English and History or Geography or RE in order to take this course.
