FCC host inaugural ‘Night at the Movies’ concert

Musicians and families enjoyed the red-carpet treatment at the premiere of Faringdon Community College’s ‘Night at the Movies’ concert. Guests in a packed school hall were treated to songs and instrumental pieces from the silver screen performed by students from across the school, showcasing the musical talent at FCC.

Felicity Woolnough – Head of Music – comments, “We are all immensely proud of our musicians who performed in the concert. We have so many talented students at FCC and they really demonstrated how professional they are when it comes to performing to an audience. The Performing Arts are such a vital part of education it is just brilliant to see the Performing Arts subjects at FCC consistently well supported by parents, guardians, staff members and the local community. Thank you to everybody who attended to help raise money for us to be able to purchase new music stands. A fantastic evening with several well-deserved 'red carpet moments'”.

Jonathan Dennett – Headteacher –– continues, “The Performing Arts at FCC exemplify and celebrate our school values of ‘Belong, Believe, Aspire, Achieve’. Whether performing solo, as part of a group or being a member of the audience, the Performing Arts give each of us that special sense of warmth and belonging that come from being part of something special. The arts inspire confidence, belief and the courage to express ourselves and try something new. Seeing fellow students in action or witnessing a professional play or performance boosts our aspiration to aim high. There is no better celebration of personal and collective achievement than the applause and appreciation of an audience. All of these are made possible by the performing arts, the engagement and talent of our young people and the commitment and flair of our FCC staff.”
